The United Arab Emirates and Qatar reopened their respective embassies on Monday in both countries, restoring diplomatic ties. Foreign ministers of respective countries had a phone call on the first day of the reopening of the embassies to wish each other on this special day.

Considering the Al-Ula agreement signed in 2021, the two middle eastern countries have announced the restoration of diplomatic ties by resuming their respective embassies in Dubai and Doha.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan phone called his counterpart and Prime Minister of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani on Monday following the reopening of the respective embassies to congratulate each other.

During the phone call, both sides congratulated each other on the occasion of resuming work at the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai, and at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Doha today.

"HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and expressed the State of Qatar's aspiration to promoting partnership with the United Arab Emirates to reflect the depth of the fraternal relations between the two brotherly peoples," the statement mentioned.

UAE cut ties with Qatar after the country was accused of supporting terrorism in 2017. Not only UAE but Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and Egypt also cut their diplomatic ties with Qatar at that time.

However, another middle eastern country, Kuwait and the United States made an effort to resolve the conflict and made these countries sign the Al-Ula agreement in 2021.

While Saudi Arabia and Egypt resumed their embassies in the same year as they signed the agreement, Bahrain is yet to reopen its embassy.
