The first office of the Roots & Shoots program in the Middle East region will soon rise in Expo City Dubai.

Roots & Shoots was established by English primatologist and anthropologist Jane Goodall in 1991. As a part of the agreement with Expo City Dubai, the first permanent office of the initiative in the region will open at Terra - The Sustainability Pavilion located in the heart of Expo City.

This collaboration aims to boost youth's involvement in environmental, conservation and humanitarian issues.

"As an inclusive, action-oriented community and a hub for climate solutions, Expo City Dubai is committed to driving collaborative action to preserve our environment," Marjan Faraidooni, chief of education and culture of Expo City Dubai, said, as per WAM.

Faraidooni added that both Expo City Dubai and Roots & Shoots have made an incredible impact individually and that this collaboration will help inspire and empower youth to become environmental stewards, as they will get exciting learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

Jane Goodall, founder of the Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, also spoke about this collaboration and explained how it will create sustainable change and greater community engagement.

"We aim to involve more students from all backgrounds in Roots Shoots, so they may have a greater impact in addressing environmental and humanitarian challenges at local, national and international levels," Goodall said.

She explained that this initiative is about hope and choosing to make this world a better place to live by several projects that help not only humans but also the environment and animals.

"It is encouraging young people of all ages to think about the environmental and humanitarian challenges in the world around them, and then roll up their sleeves and do something to address them," Goodall added. "This partnership with Expo City Dubai demonstrates a shared commitment to empowering students to make a positive impact on the planet."

This year in Dubai, Goodall will be hosting the Roots Shoots Awards to celebrate the achievements of schools alongside youth and community groups in the region that helped people, animals and the environment.
