Crown Prince of Fujairah Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi highlighted the emirate's strong position on the global stage for attracting investments, especially in the mining and sustainable industries.

He also emphasized Fujairah's key role in boosting the national economy. He made these remarks during the opening ceremony of the Apex Chemical Industries factory, which is the first integrated facility in Fujairah dedicated to producing ground calcium carbonate.

"These efforts aim to support the local economy and solidify Fujairah's position as an attractive industrial destination that contributes to advancing sustainable development in the mining and manufacturing sectors both locally and globally," he was quoted as saying by WAM.

The event was also attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Emirates Body Building and Fitness Federation, along with other local officials.

Apex Chemical Industries praised Fujairah as a top investment hub, citing its natural resources and strong government support. The new factory aims to meet rising demand for industrial materials in the UAE, reduce imports, and make use of local resources. It also includes a unit for construction chemicals to support infrastructure needs.

Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, said the project reflects efforts to maximise resource use under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Hamad and the Crown Prince. He noted the Corporation's focus on innovation, sustainability, and boosting Fujairah's role in the green economy.

Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, said the new factory is designed to serve both local and international markets.

He explained that calcium carbonate is a key material with many uses across different industries due to its special properties. He described the factory as an important addition to Fujairah's mining and chemical sectors.

He also hoped that this project would lead to more industrial developments supporting sustainable growth and strengthening Fujairah's position as a modern industrial hub.

The factory in the Thoban area covers 7,700 square meters and has a yearly production capacity of 200,000 tons, split into two phases. It stands out as the first facility of its kind in the emirate and is also notable for being environmentally friendly, as it runs on electricity and follows international environmental standards.
