Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Dubai (HU Dubai), an extension of science and technology-focused university in the USA, officially inaugurated its new campus on Tuesday at Dubai Knowledge Park, a part of TECOM Group.

The opening ceremony of the university was led by the UAE's Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in the presence of stakeholders from the University's leadership including its UAE Senior Advisory Board, TECOM Group and the leaders of HU's global.

"We commend the Harrisburg University of Science and Technology Dubai for their dedication to academic excellence and commitment to empowering a diverse community of learners," Al Nahyan said, WAM reported.

He added, "Its focus on STEM [Science Technology Engineering Mathematics] education and experiential learning aligns with the UAE's vision for a knowledge-driven economy. We are delighted to witness the launch of HU Dubai and the positive impact on the UAE's educational landscape."

President and CEO of Harrisburg University Eric Darr said the extension of the university in Dubai shows commitment to academic excellence, making world-class STEM education more accessible and catering the region's students and professionals.

He noted that by launching the campus in Dubai, Harrisburg University aims to "bridge educational gaps and enable a culture of continuous learning and innovation, contributing significantly to the local and global talent pool in critical STEM fields."

Executive Vice President of Commercial at TECOM Group Ammar Al Malik, on behalf of Dubai Knowledge Park, encouraged critical thinkers to co-create innovation that would create a lasting impact on the collective future.

Al Malik highlighted Dubai Knowledge Park's commitment towards Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33' and the Dubai Research and Development Program goals, noting that "STEM education is a powerful platform to transform today's challenges into tomorrow's opportunities."

The inauguration took place just one day after Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum launched the "Dubai Farms" program, which also supports the Dubai Economic Agenda.
