Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Jordanian King Abdullah Il bin Al Hussein discussed the UAE and Jordan's diplomatic ties during the latter's visit to Abu Dhabi on Tuesday. The UAE president received King Abdullah and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II at Al Bateen Palace, where Sheikh Mohamed hosted an iftar banquet in honor of the visiting monarch.

During the visit, the two leaders discussed the historic relations of the UAE and Jordan and expressed mutual interest in further strengthening their ties, according to The National. They also reviewed the current areas of cooperation between the two countries and exchanged greetings ahead of the Eid Al-Fitr, praying for the health, happiness and prosperity of the people of the UAE and Jordan.

Present at the meeting were Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Abu Dhabi Executive Council Chairman Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Al Dhafra Region Representative Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler's Al Ain Region Representative Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation Board of Trustees Chairman Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior and Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Theyab bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Zayed Higher Organization for People of Determination (ZHO) Chairman Sheikh Khalid bin Zayed Al Nahyan and several other senior ministers, sheikhs, officials and citizens, Emirates News Agency reported.

Also accompanying King Abdullah were Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al Khasawneh, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Ayman Safadi, Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the UAE's Ambassador Nassar Habashneh and other Jordanian officials, as per the news agency.

Following the high-level talks, Sheikh Mohamed took to Twitter to reiterate the UAE's commitment to deepening its relations with Jordan.

"I was pleased to meet with my brother King Abdullah II in Abu Dhabi today. Our talks reaffirmed the close bonds between the UAE and Jordan, and our shared interest in further strengthening these ties to support the ongoing progress of our countries and our people," he wrote.

The meeting came months after King Abdullah made an official visit to Abu Dhabi in November 2022, during which he also discussed with Sheikh Mohamed the strong links between the UAE and Jordan and reviewed opportunities to bolster their ties.
