The Board of Directors of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) reviewed the progress of its branches and subsidiaries during the first quarter of the year 2024. This reflects the chamber's commitment to promoting business growth and maintaining sustainable performance within the private sector.

During the eighth regular board meeting held at the SCCI headquarters, the board adopted the final communiqués from its previous year's meetings and was briefed on the SCCI's planned activities and programs for 2023, WAM reported.

The meeting also discussed upcoming events aimed at advancing the chamber's strategy to assist the business community in Sharjah. The official X handle (formerly Twitter) shared a photo from the meeting:

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the SCCI, led the meeting which was attended by Sheikh Majid bin Faisal Al Qasimi, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber, and Walid Abdul Rahman Bukhatir, Second Deputy Chairman of the Chamber.

The board meeting was also attended by Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al Awadi, Director-General of the SCCI; Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Support Services Sector at the SCCI; and Abdul Aziz Al Shamsi, Assistant Director-General for the Communication and Business Sector at the SCCI, alongside other board members and several officials from the chamber's affiliated entities.

During the meeting, the SCCI's board addressed several agenda items focused on various resources and opportunities offered by the chamber to help entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) owners.

Furthermore, the discussions centered on empowering a new generation of business leaders to bring fresh momentum to Sharjah's economy. Al Owais welcomed all the attendees and praised SCCI's efforts in establishing a sustainable economy, diversifying export markets, and fostering investment.

He noted that the chamber's dedication to enhance sustainable economic growth is aimed at establishing global leadership across various sectors. These efforts are aligned with the strategic objectives of the "We the UAE 2031" vision.

Al Owais went on to mention SCCI's growth indicators in 2023, aligning with the strategic goals outlined for the 2022-2024 strategy, which aims to support the business sector and promote positive practices towards sustainable economic growth.

Al Awadi said that the chamber is leveraging the best global practices, underscoring the private sector and the government's joint commitment to realizing sustainable growth.

The SCCI's board praised the Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) for implementing a competitive strategy that will help position Sharjah as a significant player in the global exhibition industry.
